After unrolling and placing your paddleboard on a mat, locate the valve. The leash D-ring is typically located at the rear, past the deck pad, on paddle boards.
Step 3: Unscrew the Valve Cap
To release the valve, rotate the cap counterclockwise.
Step 4: Raise the Valve Pin
Within the valve, there is a pin. Before you begin to inflate your paddle board, this pin should be in the erect position. When the pin is up, the position is closed, and when it is down, the position is open.
When the pump hose is disconnected from an inflatable paddle board with the valve stem depressed, air will escape from the board. By the time you close the valve, the board may have lost a significant amount of pressure and will not be as rigid as intended. Ensure that the pin of the air valve is pointing up.
Step 5: Set Your Pump’s PSI to the Desired Value
This is for individuals with electric compressors. Most of them include an auto-shutoff feature. If you set it to the desired pressure, it will stop automatically when it reaches that quantity. At this point, you must also connect it to a power source, such as a battery or cigarette lighter in a vehicle.
Step 6: Connect the pump hose to the pump
Attach the pump to the pin and turn it in a clockwise direction. When you hear it lock, you’ll know it’s secure.
Step 7: Inflate Your Inflatable SUP Board
Now is the time to begin inflation. Using an electric air compressor requires nothing more than turning it on and waiting. It will automatically turn off when complete.
If you are using a manual compressor, you will need to exert effort. Start filling your inflatable paddleboard with air. It is not difficult, but it is a light exertion. The trick is to use your entire body, not just your arms, particularly as the exercise becomes more difficult. Therefore, rather than bending your arms, maintain them straight. Stretch and bend your legs as you propel your legs up and down, simulating a shallow squat.
The pressure gauge will register when the board has approximately 7 psi of pressure. In the final few psi, inflation becomes slightly excessive. Therefore, transition from double action to single action to simplify the process.
This will depend on the manual pump’s design. There may be a lever you must rotate or a cap you must disengage. To convert the pump on the right to single action, you must unscrew the tiny red cap. Don’t forget to keep a watch on the pump gauge and stop when the pressure reaches the specified level.
Step 8: Disconnect the Pump
Uncouple the pump hose by turning it counterclockwise. There is no need to manipulate the valve.
Step 9: Tighten the Valve Cap
Reinstall the valve closure and screw the valve cap back on.
